WordCat Game Instructions

Welcome to WordCat, a word-guessing game where you have 7 lives to uncover the correct word! Follow these instructions to play:

  • Game Levels:
    • Easy Level: Standard word guessing with no additional constraints.
    • Hard Level: Each new guess must include any previously revealed hints.
  • How to Play:
    • You have to guess the hidden 5-letter word in 7 tries.
    • Each of your guesses must be a valid 5-letter word.
    • After each guess, the color of the tiles will change to show whether the letters in your guess are correct.
  • Cat Mode (Optional):
    • What is Cat Mode? When enabled, you must guess the word within 90 seconds. If the time runs out, no hint will be provided for that attempt.
    • Toggle Cat Mode: You can turn Cat Mode on or off at any time, whether during gameplay, before starting, or after stopping a game.

The game mechanics are similar to popular word games like Lingo, Wordle, Quordle, Octordle, and others.

WordCat: A Tale of Words and Wits

In a world where words hold immense power, a mystical cat known as Lexi guards the ancient library of lost language. Legends say that Lexi, the keeper of forgotten words, challenges only the most daring to a battle of wits. She has enchanted the library with a spell—anyone who enters must solve her word riddles to unlock the hidden secrets of the language.

You, a brave wordsmith, have stumbled upon this enchanted library. To win Lexi’s favor and unlock the treasures of lost words, you must guess the secret word hidden deep in the library’s scrolls. But beware—Lexi is not easily impressed. She grants you only 7 lives, or attempts, to solve her riddle. Fail, and the ancient knowledge will be lost to you forever.

Lexi offers two paths for challengers:

  • Easy Path: For beginners, she reveals only hints as to whether letters belong to the word and their correct placement.
  • Hard Path: For the experienced, Lexi raises the stakes. Your new guesses must incorporate the hints she has already granted.

Each guess you make brings you closer to uncovering the secret word. With every keystroke, Lexi’s magic reveals whether the letters you’ve chosen are in the correct place or misaligned in her enchanted word puzzle:

  • Green letters signal that you are on the right track.
  • Blue letters mean the letter belongs, but you must search for its proper place.
  • Gray letters tell you to abandon that letter altogether.

For the truly daring, Cat Mode challenges you to solve Lexi’s riddle within 90 seconds. But there’s a catch—fail to answer in time, and no hints will be provided for that attempt. Cat Mode tests not just your knowledge but your ability to think quickly, as the clock ticks away with every second.

Will you be able to decipher the hidden word in time? Or will Lexi, with her 7 lives and quick wit, guard the secrets of the ancient library forever?
